Copy ISO image of your desired OS to your VirtualBox folder and configure VB to boot from this ISO image like a Phisical CD.

Or select your CD Reader in VB config and boot from it, in this case perhaps you have permission problems and need to add user CDROM to Virtualbox group.
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

How to add user CDROM to VM, to boot OS from original CD or DVD? It is not visible now.
