blank screen on noVNC

#1

Post by stevencomerthor » 12 Nov 2018 21:01

I'm connected, ports are correct, the preview on virtual box shows the screen but the noVNC shows a blank screen with an x
Alt&F1 don't do a thing, click enter gives nothing
How do I get noVNC to show the same screen as the virtualbox preview?

I've tried these, UltraVNC or TightVNC,

and still receive a blank screen
The remote virtual machine even responds to my remote keyboard, but the screen doesn't come through

Do you use the latest version of XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6195?

It sounds like the problem I had with the XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4.6154.
There was a bug at the virtualbox 5.2.20. So they went back to virtualbox 5.2.18.
After I upgrade to 11.2.0.4.6195 VNC works.
11.2.0.4 - Omnius (Revision 6315) RootOnZFS | x64-full auf Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-7100 CPU @ 3.90GHz | ASRockRack C236 WSI | 16223MiB ECC Kingston RAM | APC BackUPS Pro | 6 x 6TB WD RED RAIDZ2 | 2 x 1TB SSD Mirror

Yes, I keep the xigmanas firmware current.
I've been able to make VM's in standalone VirtualBox and Hyper-V.
I just wanted to have a full FreeBSD VM on the local xigmaNas because it seems to go together, but VNC is not working.

use 11.2.0.4.6195 or higher, i think you made a config setup misstake as for sure vnc is not broken in this version.

please see wiki for setup:

https://www.xigmanas.com/wiki/doku.php? ... virtualbox
System specs: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4 -embedded on Samsung 860 EVO 256GB and Supermicro X10SL7-F w / Bios v3.2, IPMI v.03.84 / CPU E3-1241 v3 @ 3.50GHz - 32GB Crucial DDR3L 1600mhz ECC 1.35v , LSI 2308 on PH20.00.07.00 IT mode, Storage: 5x Western Digital Red (WD30EFRX) raidz

Development system is same system in virtualbox.

I used a different VM to import into xigmaNAS virtual box and didn't have the same problem as the freebsd VM,
What I proved to myself was that the freebsd VM was not compatible with the distribution tools or drivers necessary for remote view
