Linux VM Setup Issue

#1

Post by bgold » 24 Apr 2019 06:54

I am running v12.0.0.4.6625 and I am trying to setup a linux vm. I have tried 2 different flavors and I am getting the same error message when I try to start it to actually do the install.

I have tried Debian and Ubuntu both 64bit and current versions.

VM configured with 8gb ram (NAS has 256gb) and vm 512gb disk.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I fixed the initial issue by changing the permissions on VMMR0.r0 to 777 per an article.

Now I am getting "The virtual machine 'Linux' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1)"

Original Issue: (Solved)

Here are the details from the error.

I read that vm containers that you try to import into VirtualBox have to be owned by user/group vboxusers:vboxusers
Check them by

Code: Select all

ls -la
and

Code: Select all

chown -R vboxusers:vboxusers /mnt/~
if not.

Looks like everything under the home folder is set correctly. Any other suggestions?

Thanks
