[Solved] System Resets

#1

Post by spy0r » 02 Jun 2017 14:52

Hi,

i discovered, that my server reboots/crashes/resets since i updated from 11.0.0.4 REV 3460 to 4249/4303. Before that, i got unlimited uptimes, now its barely a week. I wouldn't say that this update caused the issue, but i wanted to mention it.

So here is the question: How can i debug this mess? System specs are in my signature. In the syslog, there is nothing! It just starts with the reboot

Code: Select all

Jun 2 00:00:00 stef-nas4free Auto Snapshot: /sbin/zfs snapshot -r zfs_raid_pool@auto-20170602-000000
Jun 2 00:00:00 stef-nas4free Auto Snapshot: /sbin/zfs destroy -r zfs_raid_pool@auto-20170502-000000
Jun 2 01:00:00 stef-nas4free root: Start of local RSYNC from /mnt/zfs_raid_pool/ to /mnt/backup/
Jun 2 01:00:09 stef-nas4free root: End of local RSYNC synchronization from /mnt/zfs_raid_pool/ to /mnt/backup/
Jun 2 03:01:45 stef-nas4free smbd[39245]: [2017/06/02 03:01:45.953871, 0] ../source3/smbd/oplock.c:692(oplock_timeout_handler)
Jun 2 03:01:45 stef-nas4free smbd[39245]: Oplock break failed for file Server/Openhab_Backup/20170602_openhab2_backup.tar.gz -- replying anyway
Jun 2 08:48:29 stef-nas4free syslogd: kernel boot file is /boot/kernel/kernel
any ideas how to start?

thanks!

do you have ExtendedGUI installed?.

because you heve embeded install, you can try to use a diferent boot USB and do afresh install of 11.0.0.4.3460 and confirm that your hardware is estable and works fine.

My sugest to solve your problem, do a new fresh install ( not a webGUI update) and configure services by hand (import disk, import ZFS pools, configure SMB and SSH, etc...).

This solve problems in the past for users with same problems.

thanks for your reply. I don't have extendedGUI installed. I don't have any extensions installed, i use ssh, samba, upc and a VM with Debian/Nextcloud.

is there really a difference if i configure my services by hand vs. importing my config?

EDIT:
Where can i get old releases? In sourceforge i can only find the last 3 ones...

EDIT2:
I looked at the graphs (because the logs don't say anything) and found this:
rrd-ups_weekly.png
The UPS toggels between charging and online, i think it hasn't done anything like that before... There was a power breakdown some weeks ago and everything worked fine, but it looks a bit strange...

Yes if config is corrupt , none if is ok, but as I say this solve simmilar issues in the past for other users.

PD: Your services are realy easy to restore by hand only save some screen copies of it to configure in new fresh install in the same way.

PD: Use a new boot USB so in something goes wrong at least you can revert to your actual USB

okay, what i did first, is a fresh install on another usb stick, restoring my config. if this doesn't help, i will do a fresh install and restore my config by hand with some screenshots, like you suggested.

keep your fingers crossed!

hi,
thanks for your attention!
No more resets since i reinstalled on a new usb stick and restored my config. But that was only 2 days ago, so i will not be calmed down until my uptime will be > 30 days again.
I'll keep you updated.

For now it looks good, i hope it stays like that... If that was the solution, it was quite easy and i should had tried that on my own...

Code: Select all

System uptime:
--------------
 7:00AM up 6 days, 14:12, 1 users, load averages: 0.08, 0.19, 0.18
