AsRock C2750D4I based system - overheating

#1

Post by riki » 23 Jun 2017 13:27

My NAS is based on an AsRock C2750D4I motherboard. It contains 10 disks. I added 2 small radiators on the Marvell controllers as suggested by sleid, and before that the system already has quite a few fans. However, any continuous operation exceeding 10-15 minutes causes some of the disks to reach 45 C, and possibly even over that.

Any suggestions to keep my system cool?

If your disks are overheating, you need to put more fans to the disks, not to the marvel controller.
Or take a bigger and/or better vented case.

@raulfg - photos: I'll take a few next week and report back.
Sleep: yes, I'll put the disks to sleep. They used to be set for spindown before, bu I recently had to remake the config and hadn't yet got around to restoring the old sleep/energy saving settings.

@crowi - There are fans already. I think there's no more room for more. I added radiators to the Marvell controllers and mentioned them here because in another thread, sleid - who also has the same board - said they are "real heaters" :)

As usual, thanks for the helpful replies!
