swap usage + 32 GB ram...

#1

Post by Keyko » 02 Mar 2018 19:52

Hello!

I have a NAS with 32GB ECC RAM. i use ZFS raid z2 (8 disk * 4TB). At first I used SSD, but then I switched to flash. I have the embedded version on 8 GB flash, swap 2 GB.

The consumption of RAM is 97% almost all the time, so the use of swap ~ 100-300 mb begins.

How can I prevent swap from being used?

Regards !

From console you can type swapoff command. But there is something strange in your system. Consider reviewing process list using ps command and terminate unnecessary ones.

I've done some tuning on my system to try to get smbd to play nice. not always successful due to a memory leak.
older system:
Platform x64-full on AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 555 Processor
System ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A785T-M Bios: 2002 03/18/2010
10tb pool

shiny new system:
Platform x64-embedded on Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz
System ASUSTeK Computer INC. P7P55D-E LX
12gb RAM
running 11.20.4 - Omnius (revision 6766)

60tb, 15tb, and 10tb pools
