User group for the WebGUI admin

#1

Post by chris.shelton » 08 May 2015 12:05

Hi there,

I'm currently setting up users and want to allow all SysAdmin accounts full access to the GUI interface, not just user portal.

Is this possible?

Thanks, Chris.

This is a terrible idea.

If you need to perform a root or an admin task, then be root.

If you still think this is a good idea, then read carefully through pw, learn that you can create users with uid 0, find out that you need to teach /etc/rc.d/userdb to add <extraoptions> to the pw command args in the user section and find out how to manually add <extraoptions>-o</extraoptions> to a user in config.xml.

How would you recognize the user who made an offending task? There's no such logging in FreeBSD nor in xigmanas

i am glad that i found a topic and i am not the only one
looking for an multi-webgui-admin solution.
it seems to be bound to the 'root' and as ms49434 pointed out: not per default / not that simple

To answer one question... One reason to have admin users verses a shared admin account is password management. You fire a guy and remove is account without having to change the password for EVERYONE else.

Also, for compliance. I have had to use another solution because of compliance requirements.

Interesting topic. I am the sole administrator in my household and therefore never needed to face this issue. I might need to find a solution in the near future though.
I've created a feature request in SourceForge for consideration.
