AD Authentication fails after standby ended by WOL

#1

Post by Knappe » 24 May 2016 17:33

CIFS Server with SMB2 installed. Authentication against MS AD.

After start/rebooting the connection to the AD is totally lost:

Code: Select all

wbinfo -u
could not obtain winbind interface details: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
could not obtain winbind domain name!
Error looking up domain users
So I created a script for postinit with

Code: Select all

net ads join my.domain.name -U Administrator%password
winbindd
That fix this problem but in the latest version (NAS4Free 10.2.0.2 (2545), I got some trouble in combination with WOL:
  • system is for longer time in standby-mode (shares disconnected, caches empty, erased or signed for timeout ))
after wake-up with a WOL-call all services a running but authentication fails. Clients are asked to renew the credentials.
Only restarting the service CIFS/SMB fix this problem and the clients could connect without any problems.

This behavior occurs only in the latest version (NAS4Free 10.2.0.2 (2545), never before.
Maybe the reason is the same as during boot ?
But how can I start a script after WOL (acpiconf -s3) ?

Any help is appreciated !

Only a hint for new versions
it would be nice to have a checkbox „enable/disable“ per script in „System|Advanced|Command Scripts“ (same as for sysctl.conf)

today same problem after WOL, so I checked logs & more.

No infos in the system.log nor samba logs.
But the file "/var/etc/smb4.conf" was empty (file size = 0, user/group owner = root/wheel = ok) !
So no restart/reload command is working. Only recreating the config file (in this case via webgui) works.

So what could be the reason for an empty smb4.conf ?
