Upgrade from 10.xx to 12.0.0.4 and SMB shares not working Win10

I've upgraded to 12.0.0.4, and restored my settings from my prev 10.xx setup.
All seems to be working fine, except I've discovered that I can't access the shares from my PCs (both Win10).
I note I can browse to them at the local address \\192.168.1.xx\POOLNAME, and the browser maps that to file://///192.168.1.xx/pool - not sure if that relies on SMB.
My settings are below - any thoughts?
thanks

In additional parameters you can try to set

Code: Select all

ntlm auth=yes
Try if this works

It worked perfectly - many thanks!

I wonder what changed between 10.xx & 12.xx that this is needed?

Changes reflected on readme: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xigman ... .0.4.6766/

cifs/smb note:
==============
From Samba 4.5.0 and up the default value for the "ntlm auth" option is changed from "yes" to "no".
This may have impact on very old clients which doesn't support NTLMv2 yet.
Only if you really need NTLMv1 Authentication you can set in Services > CIFS/SMB > Settings on
Additional Parameters: "ntlm auth = yes".

So, its better if you modify win to do not use NTLM

Any suggestions or links on modifying Windows 10 not to use NTLM v1?

I'm struggling to understand why Windows 10 uses NTLM v1 when this change of setting on affects "very old clients".
