MiniDLNA wide-links

#1

Post by techlord »

Hi guys,

I am trying to share via miniDLNA a music folder which is not located in the DLNA folder . This folder is shared via SAMBA but I don't want to add it to the DNLA config. Best way I could think of is to create a simlink in the DLNA home directory that points to this music folder. However, the dlna player (vlc) cannot play these files even if it sees them.

The error in mini DLNA is:
"Rejecting wide link /dlna/music/Viennese Waltz - My Favourite Things.mp3 -> /mnt/myraid/SHARE-SMB/Music/Viennese Waltz - My Favourite Things.mp3"

After further reasearch I found that there is a feature to allow this:

#set this to yes to allow symlinks that point outside user-defined media_dirs.
wide_links=yes

But there is nowhere on the config page to enable this, no extra settings to .conf file like the other services in xigmanas. Changing directly in /var/etc/minidlna.conf does not work as it gets deleted when the service restarts.

Is there any way you can add this in a feature realease? An option in the menu or that option to add extra things to the config file?

Thanks!

go to:Services > CIFS/SMB > Settings to add in webGUI (aditional parameter).

wide links=yes is a SMB option

It seems "wide links" is a concept used by services. In this case I need minidlna to accept wide links, not samba, so it's a minidlna config item as it's written in minidlna manual.

The reason why wide_links hasn't been made available is because it's not mentioned on the FreeBSD manpages: minidlna.conf.

Manpage refers to version 1.0.25 and needs an update.

Hello,

I habe also activated wide links: In miniDLNA: "wide_links=yes", in SMB: "wide links=yes". Logs do not throw any errors. But I only get empty folders of miniDLNA ("Video") at the clients (i.e. Win Explorer). I do this:

- my database-directory: /mnt/pool1/mdlna
- My media-directory (SMB with subfolders): /mnt/pool1/video/Kodi_Bibliothek

Owner of "mdlna" ist "dlna" (755), owner of "Kodi_Bibliothek" (755) is "tf" (both group "media"). Any idea, what's going wrong?

Regards
Thomas

P.S.: Now an error is thrown:
../../source3/param/loadparm.c:4575(widelinks_warning)
widelinks_warning: Share 'IPC$' has wide links and unix extensions enabled. These parameters are incompatible. Wide links will be disabled for this share.
-> I deleted SMB: "wide links=yes" and the errors are gone. But it doesn't work. Files could not be seen.

Problem solved! I deaktivated miniDLNA, then I deleted the mdlna folder (/mnt/pool1/mdlna) with files.db and activated everything.
