Works Fine: Back-UPS RS 1500G

Post by RayCJ » 09 Jan 2016 19:45

Just passing this along... I took a chance with a US dealer on eBay selling a bunch of refurbished APC Back-UPS RS 1500G units. This new unit works perfectly with NAS4Free. All the log information properly displays and tests indicate proper shutdown. FWIW, the refurbished unit was $99+25 shipping, had new batteries installed, came in the original box and had all the original warranty paperwork. It was manufactured in 2013. I suspect this was a volume purchase from a large office that swapped-out their UPS units. If you order one, make sure to request the data cable. -Good deal because it's otherwise $170. Again, just passing this on (not affiliated with seller) eBay APC Back-UPS Pro 1500 BR1500g 120V 1500VA 865W UPS W/New Batteries. There are many units available.

My previous unit was an older XS1300 which I purchased new in 2005 or 2006. The UPS feature worked but the monitoring software and features are buggy (despite all the help and suggestions here) and would not reliably do a proper/timely auto-shutdown.

I have the same UPS with the second battery attached, it is a great UPS. I get about a 5.5hr runtime for my NAS server, router, modem, VOIP phone.
It was not working correctly with NAS4Free (driver would lose connection about 30mins after startup), but I was long overdue for an upgrade. Works great now with 10.2!
