Downloading torrents to external USB drive/key

#1

Post by riporto » 02 Feb 2016 13:18

Hi all,
to preserve a bit more my internal nas disks I was thinking of downloading my torrents from Transmission to an external USB drive or key.
Is it possible? If yes how can I make this?
Nobody does that?
Why?

Thanks for help!

I do, but to a old dedicated IDE HD.

Is not good idea to use USB disk to download, because USB disk ID change between reboots and your download can't start.

Is good Idea to use a small SATA or IDE HD Disk to download data and to store temp info like minidlna database or something simmilar.

I've tried it out, downloading works flawless on external usb key!
Only problem is, as you told me, if I restart my machine the downloads will not restart, I have to manual re-import the .torrent files and all continues from where it left.
Isn't there a solution apart from leaving my server always on?

No problem if use SSD ( SATA or PCI-e)
