Cannot access WebGUI from SOME computers

#1

Post by drnicolas » 20 Jun 2016 22:41

My NAS4Free has a problem since some versions until now.

I cannot access the GUI from some of my machines in network.
I am not experienced enough to track that down. Maybe someone can help me.

The NAS4Free has IP 192.168.1.252
The machine which can't access the GUI has 192.168.1.45, but there are others.

Ping from the .45 works.

Calling http://192.168.1.252 from the machine .45 using Google Chrome takes a long time. At the end, I see the message "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET"

Are all the clients you are trying to access your NAS from in the same subnet AND defined in the "hosts allow" of your NAS? If not, make sure you have the correct subnet range on your "hosts allow" e.g. 192.168.1.0/24

I forgot t mention that all machines are on the same subnet and, yes I have 192.168.1.0/24 for allowed hosts.

Maybe, I found a possible reason:

I have two NIC installed, named em0 (LAN) and bge0 (OPT1).

em0 had MTU 9000, bge0 MTU 9000.
Changing em0 MTU to 1500 seems to solve the problem.

But of course I want to have maximum performance from the NICs. What can I do ?

if you have a mtu size of 9000 all machines on the network need to have this set as well. otherwise the communication doesnt work.

please start of with the basics before you try to optimize things.
