Itunes w/o Windows or Mac How

#1

Post by kenZ71 » 17 Oct 2015 02:48

I can't be the only one in this situation.

The lady of the house has a iPhone with a fair amount of music purchased from iTunes. However the windows desktop is running XP and won't support newer. No MAC in the house.

I do have a Linux desktop but it did not like my attempt to install Wine so I could do Itunes.

What should I try next? Tell her toss the iPhone for Android? Hang a VM off the NAS4Free & install Windows or a Mac OS?

If I wasn't such a cheap miser I suppose it would be easiest to just buy a Mac off ebay. Or is there another option?
11.2-RELEASE-p3 | ZFS Mirror - 2 x 8TB WD Red | 28GB ECC Ram
HP ML10v2 x64-embedded on Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4150 CPU @ 3.50GHz

Extra memory so I can host a couple VMs
1) Unifi Controller on Ubuntu
2) Librenms on Ubuntu

The XP machine no longer starts iTunes. As the app starts it throws errors and tells me to upgrade but I can't find a version of iTunes that will run on XP

I've seen some stuff indicating might be able to pull the purchased music from icloud, will give that a go.

Apple drives me nuts!

Awesome! Thanks!

I still say android is way better. But that is like a ZFS and ECC debate :)

Thanks very much! I know that the Apple products like iPhone, iPod, iTune etc. support aac audio format. So should i transfer the mp3 to aac to match my devices? Is it necessary?

Why don't you upgrade your windows and then install the compatible iTunes available to download. That could be the best option IMO.
