hastmon and watchdog

Can we get hastmon and watchdog built into the kernel?
I have been successful using hast for HA but this requires double the disk capacity. I would like to use hastmon and watchdog to create an HA offering that will utilize the same set of disks (JBOD) and hastmon will failover the zpool to nodeB. NodeB will basically do a zfs import.

Thanks in advance.
