USB3 NICs node ID change (detection order)

#1

Post by apux64 »

Dear All,

i have a serious Problem with USB3 network adaptors (3 connected). They are initialized and working, but the detection order (device ID, ue0-ue2) is always changing after a reboot! :(
This results in a misconfiguration of the IP settings (Management, Carp, iSCSI and their VLANs) .

Has anybody a clue how I can avoid this behavior?

The release is 10.2.0.2 Revision 2235 embedded installation.

Thank you in advance

that is the problem with usb. you wont find a solution for that.

using usb3 network adapter is not a good idea. get a 4 port internal nic.
you can get cheap intel ones on ebay.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

Hi B0ssmann,

1. other NIC's are not an option in this case (No expantion slots)
2. It's not a Problem of USB, mostly all other OS's of the world, are able to identify USB devices reliable.

Is it a Problem of NAS4Free only or is this behavior a Problem of FreeBSD 10?

Hi All,

i made a test and installed FreeBSD 10.2.0.2 on the Box. I run in the same Problem. ue0 - ue2 are assigned to different NICs after a boot/shudown.
So it's a bug in FreeBSD 10.

I will try to find a solution on the FreeBSD forum.
