hello,
i have the latest nas4free build full installed.
2 ide drives are configured in raid and the sistem disk is ide too.
i have bought a new wd green with advanced format and i can't get it to work.
The disk will be recognized and added but when i try to format it to UFS (with 4k support or not) i receive the following response:

****************************
kern.geom.debugflags: 0 -> 16
Creare partizione...
gpart: geom 'ada3': File exists
gpart: start '64': No space left on device
Creo un filesystem con 'Soft Updates'...

Creato file system UFS:
dumpfs: /dev/ada3p1: could not find special device

kern.geom.debugflags: 16 -> 0
Fatto!

after that the device goes down and isn't recognizable, need to reboot.

With ZFS i can use the drive without problems.

are you sure the device is ada3?

One thing you can also try is DD to clear the drive. There is a script out there many are using for this called wipe.sh

thanks sjordan.
tried the script, no success.
The format process stucks always at the same sector.

rocket i'm afraid you're wright, i lost gigs of data!
When i installed the disk UFS and EXT2 format went bad, only ZFS seemed to go flawless. :(
