burning in right now with a half TB transfer to it
Update: moved to the "gear" shelves and in service!

[no OS] Refurbished: HP Pro 8300 Small Form Factor PC i5-3470
under 50 watts [32 idle, 17 spun down] and fast too. [newegg $90+frt]
more memory is coming to max it out at 8Gb [came with 4Gb]
two 3TB Hitachi HDD, cheapest I could find, Mirrored [$56 ea + frt]
an old 80-Gb Intel SSD for the embedded OS, swap and future etc. if any.
and a 5"to3" bay adapter with some metal screen over the 3" drive opening.
left over at the end a 250 Gb Hdd and a CD/DVD drive.

the extra RAM may be a bit of overkill;
but again it is fast!

PS
after the photo I exchanged places for the SSD and the 3Tb under it
putting the 3Tb drive into greater air flow of the 5" bay
the 2.5" SSD also has plenty of air circulation room in the 3" bay

A very nice 3Tb mirrored drive XigmaNAS for a bit over $200 +/-
depending on your junk box goodies.

A good starter build for a modest size yet redundant install.
or expansion for those of us who like to spread the data "egg" risk over more baskets.
its twin is under construction.

Looks good, may you have millions of fast read / write cycles
11.2-RELEASE-p3 | ZFS Mirror - 2 x 8TB WD Red | 28GB ECC Ram
HP ML10v2 x64-embedded on Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4150 CPU @ 3.50GHz

Extra memory so I can host a couple VMs
1) Unifi Controller on Ubuntu
2) Librenms on Ubuntu
