Raid5 Degraded shows corrupt

#1

Post by imkiwi1 »

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for some help here on my system with a corrupt degraded RAID5. I have been running Nas4Free 9.x version for 6 years flawlessly. About a week ago I was writing some large files to it and shortly after it stopped booting into the OS. It was not getting to the console menu, just kept rebooting over and over. I discovered a bad power supply, replaced it and still had the same issue! I did briefly see this- "kernel: GEOM: ada0: corrupt or invalid GPT detected. kernel: GEOM: ada0: GPT rejected -- may not be recoverable" in the boot up. I figured I had a corrupt drive on ada0 so removed the 1st SATA drive and rebooted. This time it booted all the way & I got into the gui. I went immediately to disk management and as expected ada0 showed missing. Then I decided to plug it back in. I wanted to see if it was in fact the culprit. It did reboot again & showed ada0 drive back in there only I now have a degraded RAID5. All drives show online & SMART shows ok. What is strange is ada0 does not show in RAID under Diagnostics|Information|Software RAID
