zfs data recovery methods/software?

#1

Post by Northwinds »

Hi all
Recently did something annoying where I lost over 1tb of flac files from a zfs share.

Full details of this here:

https://www.xigmanas.com/forums/viewtop ... 454#p96454

Spent all I had left on a new drive to try and recover to and it arrived this morning - a couple of days before the uk goes back into lockdown - so i'll have some time!

I'm really asking here if anyone has any experience with this?

I've used data recovery apps on windows, osx and linux but never on zfs

Can anyone recommend any or has had experience doing this?

I was looking at ufs explorer on windows but it couldn't see the drive over the network so am thinking to clone to the new drive then attach it directly to the windows machine.

Any suggestions please?

Many Thanks!

I only have found this one:
https://imoriath.com/zfsspy/

Never used so I can't tell if it works.
If it helped you, then it would be cool, if you can let us know how it works.

Odd but zfs spy seems only to be browser based and as such isn't reading the disks on my nas.

Now lockdown 2.0 is in effect in the uk, I'll remove the disk from the nas and attach it internally to my other pc - which also has win 10 and ubuntu on it and see if either program helps.

Other software suggestions also welcome please?

Cheers!

I am still struggling with this.

Unfortunately klennet is $400 and is way out of my finances.

As it it the only joy I had was with the trial version of UFS Explorer pro which showed me everything I've lost but won't let me at it until I pay the €600 license!

So I'm still stuggling - very little useful zfs rcovery options unfortunately!

Thank you for this anyway!
