Is there a way to fix this.... /dev/diskid back to the da* format?? cause this looks like a pain in the !#& if I were to replace a drive in the future....

What drive do you use?

solve for me same behaviour.
12.0.0.4 (revision 6766)+OBI on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 12x3TB disk in 3 vdev in RaidZ1 = 32TB Raw size only 22TB usable

nas4free doesn't have /dev/disk/by-id... but i tried 'zpool import -d /dev storage' that didn't work.

the steps that Raul did worked for me in 10.1 as well!

i got the diskbyid after deleting the gnop devices, something changed in behavior from 9.x to 10.x that we now need to do this twice?
