#1

Post by joeshook » 25 Nov 2015 17:12

How do you replace a disk in a RAIDZ1 pool that is encrypted? When I remove the failed drive and put in a new drive I cannot see the new drive availble for me to encrypt it and/or replace it in the zpool.?.?.?

new drive, must be clean to see in webGUI, so if is reused, please first wipe it: http://www.zoonsweb.nl/wiki/doku.php?id=faq:0129

Also you need to sync your zfs configuration. Otherwise the gui assumes the drive is part of the pool.

Perhaps I should be more specific. I am trying to increase the size of my ZFS pool by replacing the drives with larger ones. I found procedures to do that, however- my current zpool is encrypted. The procedures I found do not tell me how to do it with encrypted drives. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how to replace a drive in a zfs pool.
http://www.zoonsweb.nl/wiki/doku.php?id=faq:0149

just encrypt the new drive via the gui first and then use the encrypted device in the replace commands. (encrypted end with .eli)
