Backup data to external USB HDD

#1

Post by Alex86 » 13 Jun 2017 03:50

Hello,
I want to backup data folder from my owncloud instalation to external usb HDD. How to do that and is it possible to after first backup, other backups only download/backup files that have changed?

Configuration:
9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 972)
FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE-p4 (kern.osreldate: 902001)
x64-embedded on Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G2030 @ 3.00GHz
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. H61M-K
8GB RAM
ZFS Mirror 2x1TB HDD
external storage: 3TB WD Passport

P.S. I was use rsync in console before and destination was in Pool. But now i don't have a place to copy all data, 'cause the data pick up more than 50% space. Also adding external USB HDD is it just import or not?

Regards.

I'd suggest to use Extended GUI's USB automount feature and local rsync.

doktornotor,

I find myself in need of a helping hand for this.
have an "embedded 11.0.0.4 - Sayyadina (revision 4383)" that has one POOL which is 16TB and has 4.5TB used. I have a new 6TB USB 3.0 that the NAS4Free has now as an available disk.

I have OBI, Extended GUI, and Plex Media Server all added to my NAS.

Can you give an old Windows Admin dog the "step-by-step" instructions to use local "rsync" to copy my data to the USB drive?

Will this command syntax work:
My data is on: /mnt/WhiteData
My external USB is on: /mnt/da1p1/DataBackup

I wish to keep all permissions, ownership, and meta data as well as capture all directories and their content(recursive).

Tool-->Command:
rsync -a-X /mnt/WhiteData /mnt/da1p1/DataBackup
Execute

Will this do what I wish?

Sorry to resurrect your thread, but, well, did your command work?
