Compile with PAE support

#1

Post by nicolap8 » 07 Apr 2015 23:21

Hi,
has someone already tried to compile Nas4Free I386 with PAE support?
(to support more than 4 GB of RAM)
If yes, it's working reliabily?
Thanks
Nic

even with pae support a single process is still limited to 4gb of ram.
this helps with lots of processes but not for zfs.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

Why not???
Is ZFS a single process???

Of course you got the main (single) reason for wanting this options :)

for the sake of pae it is.

however any processor that does not support 64 bit you most likely dont want to run zfs on anyway for performance reasons,

I have a dual Xeon, not the fastest but enough for serving some files!
And I dont want to upgrade the 12 port 3ware controller, the motherboard, etc...

Anyway thanks!
