Hi all!

i ran into some problems installing OBI - what i did:

after fetching this cmd via Tools/Command:

Code: Select all

fetch https://raw.github.com/crestAT/nas4free-onebuttoninstaller/master/OBI.php && mkdir -p ext/OBI && echo '<a href="OBI.php">OneButtonInstaller</a>' > ext/OBI/menu.inc && echo -e "\nDONE"
& refresh Browser Page i see under Extensions: OneButtonInstaller

then i wanna save OBI Config etc. to my specified Path (testtank1 is there up'n running):

Code: Select all

/mnt/testtank1
after hitting "Save" i got a blank white screen with: No input file specified. - but there's a Folder "onebuttoninstaller" created by the Script - with inside:
Folder "Log" & "onebuttoninstaller-install.php"

BUT no extensions Menu anymore...

i tried this so many times on my physical TestNAS with r5975 & few Minutes ago on a newly intalled VM with Xnas r5975 - i cant get it work

so wht's to do...? this drive me nuts

I wonder if there is a possibility to add mysql server and phpmyadmin as extentions by one button installer?
Sorry for the late answer

Yes, there are plans to integrate mySQL server to OBI and it would be great if you could do some testing if a beta is available.
Which use cases would you think of for mySQL (the only one for me would be NextCloud ...)?

Regards
crest
It would be my pleasure :D
In my case Kodi, forums and so on wich relies on MySQL
I think that should not be an extension but native support.
MariaDB.png
with some little help it can be fast be added to webgui, one of this days I will look to it.
fact stays that embedded will grow and a reinstall would be required!
don't blame us :)

Wow, a long awaited feature and good to see it will be implemented to stock ... :D

Anyway here are some screenshots from the second beta of the now obsolete MySQL extension (installable via OBI beta channel) just for fun ;)

You could change the permission for the directory /mnt/testtank1/onebuttoninstaller ...

Code: Select all

chmod 775 /mnt/testtank1/onebuttoninstaller
... and then perform the follow command in the CLI to check if errors are thrown ...

Code: Select all

xigmanas: onebuttoninstaller# /usr/local/bin/php-cgi -f /mnt/testtank1/onebuttoninstaller/onebuttoninstaller-install.php
... BUT I would really recommend to start again with the whole installation process and in step 3 of the installation procedure, described in the first post of this thread, choose a directory which should hold ALL extensions - like /mnt/testtank1/extensions or /mnt/testtank1/addons .... rather to have for every extension, you would like to install, a seperated directory in the root folder of the share /mnt/testtank1/

Obviously  ;) somehow there is something different, so lets try another one ...

Pls check the following command which should download the whole extension archive and save it as master.zip

Code: Select all

fetch --no-verify-hostname -vo master.zip 'https://github.com/crestAT/nas4free-onebuttoninstaller/releases/download/v0.4.0.1/onebuttoninstaller-v0401.zip'
If this fails (which will be obviousely) we should get a specific error message.

Congrats and no worries, I'm happy that you could finally solve this annoying issue :D

Btw, I'm using Pi-hole which imho is comparable with dns-blackhole - did you compare both of them and could you provide pros and cons?

Hej crest,

my Brother is using Pi-hole in a VM, too - i had it installed a few Month ago to have a look. But i dont want to run a VM for such things...

Some Time ago i had tried to get Pi-hole running native on FreeBSD - but after a few Days i gave up: too much dependencys from native Linux binarys

the only thing what very dissapointed me with my dns-blackhole: i can't see anything if Domains are blocked or not - even when i have some Problems such as OBI

but on the other Side my pdns_recursor is running a few Years without an glitches - i wrote me a small script thats executed after Reboot to copy & linking the right Files in my
XNas root Directory, so no Jails or anything else is needed 8-)

Have a nice Day

Hej crest,

my Brother is using Pi-hole in a VM, too - i had it installed a few Month ago to have a look.

Greetings
Pi-hole is very comfortable with the built-in admin interface which enables you to see all blocked domains and it has many more features. Since I'm running a Raspberry Pi with a tvheadend server all the time I installed Pi-hole there (and also RPi-Monitor which is a great light-weight solution to monitor the state of all devices in my network, routers, servers, cameras etc... together with Telegram notifications to my mobile - similar to the one I implemented into Extended GUI) and for me it's the perfect solution because my servers are not running all the time.

But anyway could you maybe provide informations on how to install pdns_recursor and dns_blackhole, would be interesting ...

Best regards

Re: [EXTENSION] OneButtonInstaller - TheBrig is lost

Hi!
Please help me resolve problem made myself. I had OBI with installed plex, extended GUI, Nexowncloud, and TheBrig. After upgrade to Xigmanas 11.2.0.4 - Omnius (revision 6026) my Jail with MySQL permanently stopped work. I checked setting, tried to create it again but nothing helped.
Under bad emotions I deleted folder with TheBrig and it disappeared form Extensions menu but it remains as installed in Extension-OneButtonInstaller menu. I understad now that it has to be done using own TheBrig uninstall button.
Currently there is no TheBrig. OBI shows that it is installed. I can't de-install it. Re-installation of OBI doesn't change situation. In addition I removed all commands contained "TheBrig" in System-Advanced but it doesn't help me too.
How to re-install TheBrig if it was incorrectly removed and remains in OBI list of installed apps?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Yes, the right way to uninstall extensions shall be to perform from the extension itself.
In your case - proceed to Extensions > OneButtonInstaller 0.4.0.1 > Configuration, activate the Re-install option and push Save.
Then - under the Install tab - activate the checkbox at TheBrig and push the Cleanup button, thereafter you can install TheBrig again.

Great add-on!
Thank you for this app again! Foolproofing works excellently. TheBrig is restored and I know another feature.

Re: [EXTENSION] OneButtonInstaller - temporary MySQL extension

Regarding to this post -> viewtopic.php?f=71&t=11189&start=300#p86808
I decided to leave the MySQL extension beta 2 in the beta channel of OBI for testing purpose even there will be a MariaDB installation in the next XigmaNAS release.

The extension is fully working and primarily to get empirical values for installing and configuring, If someone is willing to perform some tests it would be great to get feedback for further extensions development! :)

I also owe JoseMR big thanks for the development of the core mySQL installation/handling script which is used by the MySQL extension :!:
Without his work this and many other implementations for XigmaNAS would not have been possible :!:

Dear forum,

I have a strange issue in OBI.
Every time I list the plugins I have this error:

Code: Select all

The following input errors were detected:
Internet connection or the server 'github.com' is not available, please check your DNS settings under System > General Setup | DNS. Currently the first IPv4 DNS server address is set to ''
but immediately after:

Code: Select all

New extensions list successfully downloaded!
My DNS is correctly configured, I have checked.

Anyone else has this error ?
Any solution?

I'm seeing the same message fox_pluto reported on 21 Oct 2018 16:33

Image

Everything seems to function OK so I'm ask what the message really means, or what I should do to resolve it:

Pings are blocked from our office as a security measure--does the application try to ping github to see if it's there?

If I say "fetch http://www.github.com" from the command line, a page is downloaded; so it looks like the server can find github and get stuff from there:

Code: Select all

kaiser: /tmp# fetch https://www.github.com
fetch: https://www.github.com: size of remote file is not known
www.github.com 64 kB 954 kBps 00m00s
I can install things, for example just installed nextowncloud with no problem, so everything seems to work.

Just seeing the message makes me concerned I am doing something wrong

In both cases you can just ignore the message.

Recently I implemented the ping check because often misconfigured DNS settings or very special setups (like here -> viewtopic.php?f=71&t=11189&start=300#p86909) can lead to problems installing extensions. But in your case the ping check doesn't work even though extensions list downloads and extension installations are successful.

As karlandtanya stated -
Pings are blocked from our office as a security measure--does the application try to ping github to see if it's there?
yes, that's the reason, therefore I will remove the ping check to get rid of these false alarms, thanks for reporting!

Thanks Crest for your reply and explanation!
You are right I have a firewall and the ping is not allowed to the internet.

Thanks again,
