Yes, it is broken.

Because in this post another reason was specified.
darioml wrote:Hi. I think the issue is due to the fact that the url for downloading BitTorrentSync has changed from

And at this link file is downloaded without problems.

Yes, right, confirmed it already here => viewtopic.php?p=71766#p71766, since not only the link changed it needs a bit more to do and test, will take some days more ...

I worked already on this issue and the new (and for possible changes in the future) link is implemented but I have to revise the whole extension code because the executable file name changed too (sounds not like a big problem ;) but needs to check the whole code just to be sure that everything works correctly) and the new release will be finished next week, please be patient ...

Crest,
I am a bit confused
Is your extension still rely on btsync? because developers make new company, and rename btsync to resilio sync.
is it still the same, and i can use resilio sync app on iphone to sync my photoes with nas?

Right, this change of the company name (and app name) could be confusing ;)

I decided not to change the name of the extension - it's BitTorrent Sync Extension - and if you install v0.7.1 you will see a note to Resilio Sync but I will make it more obvious in the topic title and a short note too ...

So for your use - yes, starting with v0.7.1 the application is Resilio Sync and you can use it with IPhone and Android apps (if there is one ...?).

Hope to make it more clear !

I tried using onebuttoninstaller on a fresh NAS4FREE installation and it seems install goes through successfully.

I get:
Installation: BitTorrent Sync
BitTorrent Sync Extension Version 0.7.2 installed
Resilio Sync Version 2.4.4 installed
But there is no additional menus under the extension. I see btsync folder in my extension folder in mnt/storage/ but nothing is happening.

P.S. I have installed other extensions successfully using the same method.

I suppose you are on N4F release 4009 ? See also this discussion => viewtopic.php?p=76153#p76153 and => viewtopic.php?p=76174#p76174 , the new menu scanner ignores some extensions.

For your problem there is a simple workaround, just call

Code: Select all

http://YourNASIP/btsync.php
in your web browser and you will get the landing page of the BTS extension (you could set a favorite in your web browser for quick access of course ;) ). All management functions are working fine under r4009.
Btw, this applies also to the extensions NextOwnCloud and Syncthing.

HI
Not seen mention of it ..but what exactly is BTSync? is it a standalone BT client or something that is an 'add-on' to the built in Transmission BT client?..something that helps sync the Transmission client to the trackers.. With Pedros BT Music trackers I had lots and lots of issues with Transmission 'playing up' until I set the box to do a scheduled re-boot every night. Is BTSync something that will help with my Transmission issue or is this a totally unconnected

ext 071 is not starting btsync

#197

Post by bartch » 03 Apr 2017 12:50

Hey,

Had ext 0.7.1 and sync 2.4.4 installed on n4f 11.0.0.4. Everything was perfect.

Upgraded the extension to 0.7.2 and sync is not starting with nas. (Status STOPPED)
It does start after Save and Restart pushed, no problem.

Removed all sync and extension. Reinstalled using OBI. No change.

Log shows:
Apr 3 12:28:50 nas4free root: btsync-extension: error during startup, link creation failed with return value = 1
Apr 3 12:28:50 nas4free root: ln: /usr/local/share//locale-bts: Operation not permitted
Apr 3 12:28:50 nas4free root: onebuttoninstaller: started

Any idea?

Best regards,
Bartch

Another strange thing:
If I go to the Extensions-BitTorrent Sync for the first time, the screen says that there is a new version of the ext 072 available, even that I have it installed. Second time on that screen -- no message. (Cannot reproduce anymore)

Log, no change here:

Confirmed, it's a tiny flaw, will correct it but can take some days until I have enough time, please be patient.

Regards,
Thank you for reporting, I can confirm that for 2.5.2 the key 'folder_defaults.delete_to_trash' in the config file is now depreciated.

I will fix this with a new release of this extension, as a workaround you can remove the line

Code: Select all

    "folder_defaults.delete_to_trash": true
in the built-in editor under Tools > File Editor from the config file (it is located in Extensions > BitTorrent Sync 0.7.2 > Installation directory, named sync.conf) and restart your server to get rslsync running. Don't push Save and Restart inside the BTS extension as this would write the depreciated key again to the config file.

Hello, I updated just now the extension to fix the mentioned issue, please updated the extension inside the N4F webGUI, open the extension and hit Save and Restart, should work now with rslsync 2.5.2.

Hey,

With new extension 0.7.2.1, BitTorrent Sync 2.5.2 works fine, however only after manual start.

So the problem remains the same (as in my first post from April).

Am I the only one to use full install of n4f?

I'm sorry but I still cannot reproduce your error (I'm using rslsync on full install) but let's try to figure it out.

1. Pls check the permissions for /usr/local/share, it should look similar like this:

Code: Select all

lrwxr-xr-x   1 root  wheel  38 May 27 09:23 locale-bts@ -> /mnt/DATA/extensions/btsync/locale-bts
and where does it point to?

2. where is the BTS extension installed to? You can find it in the WebGUI > Extensions > BitTorrent Sync 0.7.2.1 > Installation directory

3. Which user do you use for running rslsync? In WebGUI > Extensions > BitTorrent Sync 0.7.2.1 > Advanced settings > Username

Hi crest

1. Looks like locale-bts is not pointing anywhere :

Code: Select all

drwxr-xr-x 16 root wheel 512 Jun 1 19:59 share

drwxr-xr-x 11 root wheel 512 Nov 23 2016 locale-bts
lrwxr-xr-x   1 root  wheel    43 Jun  1 19:59 locale-obi -> /mnt/data/ext/onebuttoninstaller/locale-obi

2. Installation directory The extension is installed in /mnt/data/ext/btsync/.

3. Username root

Hmm, in your case locale-bts is a directory which it shouldn't be (seems to me maybe from an old BTS version, dated from Nov 23 ...) so pls remove this directory (with the built-in filemanager), this SHOULD solve this problem ...
