Hello, a HOWTO install AD-Guard in english, can be a good add-on for XigmaNAS ( I allways want a pihole for Xigmanas, and ADGuard is what I look for).

After a good HOWTO install , adding it to OBI is a good point too.
Hello,
I don't think that's a problem

Hello raulfg3!
Take in notice that AdGuardHome is a binary file that initially can be launched in SSH session and the process will be stopped after detach from shell. I used "crutch" to cut off the process from sh session: script and cron.
1) the script checks "AdGuardHome" process activity and start it if not. Just download it and past into /AdGuardHome folder (I copied it in Xi Explorer from shared folder to jail folder). Give 755 permissions to start.sh. I launch it as root user. You may create unprivileged user but I faced with difficulty in cron setup.
2) set cron job to start the script every 5 minutes. It also works as automatic start after NAS (Jail) reboot.

Code: Select all

crontab -e

Code: Select all

SHELL=/bin/sh
*/5 * * * * /AdGuardHome/start.sh
Visit address

topic splited and moved to Home->Board->index->SOFTWARE->Packages

Thanks a lot for testing & develop. my next words are to developers so if read this , perhaps can be add it to OBI ( because install from OBI is lots of times easyer that from shell).

Thanks to both.

Script work on main Xigmanas server, without any jail.

Your network must be configured with DNS from machine, where AdGuard Home run.

Script may be add to OBI

Hi Raulfg3
Are you always using adguard ? Is it always satisfying ?
I am using Pihole but I find that it is not with high performance even if I update regularly dns list.
And I think that I will move to adguard.

I confirm. Adguard is better than Pihole (personal opinion on ad block). Today I am using on raspberry pi. Perhaps in the future in a vm on Xigmanas or a jail.
