Access to NAS4FREE admin via OpenVPN ...

#1

Post by softfoot » 14 Jul 2016 15:53

Hi,

I have setup a VPN link to the local network and can access most things OK - but I cannot connect to my NAS4FREE's web admin page :(
I can ping the machine and even explore its shares via VPN - I just cannot get at the admin pages.

If I connect via a Putty "tunnel" it works fine so I assume it's a security feature in NAS4FREE.

Can someone give me an idea how to configure my way around this???

TIA
Dave

openvpn server has miss configured routes. see #openvpn for support on freenode.
basically the dns and the gateway are not configured to use the tunnel.
You need to use other options like push "redirect-gateway def1"
you can configure the tunnel to route all traffic or only some of it.
your web traffic is not configured to use the tunnel so adjust your config.

SOLVED!!

The answer was to specify the IP range of the GREEN network and the network range used by the VPN in the NAS4FREE "System"->"General"->"Hosts Allow" setting ... and everything sprang to life :-)

hmm?
not sure how you have yours setup but on mine the vpn server routes the client to the internal IP address so no "Hosts Allow" settings are needed.
anyway glad you have it working.
