Reinstall of my embedded went fine via Live USB - thanks for including the option to resize embedded OS partition.

But why did the LiveUSB also allow for an option to upgrade embedded? I tried it, and it seemed to be OK, but just to play it safe, I then reinstalled.

We did not took that out, its part of the build script, but the readme is clear, users need an reinstall, not an upgrade!

Running Xigmanas off USB, storage in 5 disks in one ZFS pool.

Will the ZFS pools be available when the config backup is restored?

I see MySQL added ..
hmm, it work under jail.. Also may be problematic with OS migration
Also damage virtualbox machine when tried to use mysql Image

So
If I push Enable with empty Home directory field, virtual box machine lost
Image

Also please add phpLiteAdmin for sqlite3, only 2 files, no need any php changes
I use sqlite at work

The sed expression in the readme_11.2 is clearly broken and does not work.

Code: Select all

sed -i '' -E "s/SIZE=\"320M\"/SIZE=\"384M\"/g" /etc/rc.firmware
Unmatched '"'.

Well yes (I edited the file manually anyway), just pointing out that the readme needs to be fixed. No problem with the RootOnZFS install upgrade otherwise.

Well, the problem is that you need to edit the file before enabling the firmware upgrade in the GUI. If the ramdisk already exists, it's too late to fiddle with its size in the script.

First of all, the usual thanks for continued improvements. A special thanks to JoseMR, if I'm right that you spearheaded the beadm stuff, which I just used, because...

After upgrade (from 6026) on full platform RootOnZFS mirror, I had a strange problem with VirtualBox: Viewing the console of a Windows Server 2016 guest with VNC (UltraVNC, recent version) I got a small black square (turns out it was likely 720x400). I could send a Ctrl-Alt-Del and type, and see the effects in the preview window in phpVBox, but that's it. Of course, I had to fix a network thing that I'd broken, so couldn't actually log in on the console, or any remote method. Rolling back to 6026 fixed it. I'll attach a log snippet if that helps.

Two things while I'm here:
- rolling back was super easy, how would I have done it before beadm? Reinstall? Or is/was there another way to get at the RootOnZFS upgrade snapshots?
- is the last line of the log important?

Thanks,
Andy

Same problem with my installation: when I try to connect to a Virtualbox VM using a VNC viewer (NoVNC or TightVNC) I just obtain a black screen.
If I move the mouse or press some key I can see on the preview Windows that something happens...just the screen is not rendered on the client!

Apart from this my NAS works great, thanks to all XigmaNAS developers for their great job!

Apart from this my NAS works great, thanks to all XigmaNAS developers for their great job!
What type is your installation - Embedded or Full? I am asking this question in order to decide to update or not my embedded installation. Access to my VM by VNC is very important for me.

Had to switch some SATA port assignments around (stupid Dell) but I managed to reinstall and import my config. Thanks for the update, no issues whatsoever!

@ Devs

Thx for the Update!

but - why we don't grow the Filesystem to a bigger Value such as 512MB?? ...this small 64MB step is sufficient for app. 6-12 Month, then we all must re-install again...

is there any Reason that we grow such as small steps i overlook??

/edit
didn't realized that this "feature" is already implemented... seen that after a fresh install

my NAS is waiting for about an hour with this message

"The firmware is now being installed. The server will reboot automatically."

"A firmware upgrade is in progress."

AWESOME update and thank you very much for mariadb included!

I am now using the included mariadb instead of hacked-in mysql57 in a jail!
It works great with kodi at home, and next week (after practicing with it at home!) I plan to use it for NextCloud at work.

Thank you to the whole team for the excellent work!

You did not read the Readme, you need a reinstall not a firmware upgrade, also no embedded file has been released yet!
So i have no clue about what you are doing.

Hi!
Why the complete reinstallation is needed? Different partition scheme or something else?

I made an upgrade from LiveCD by accident and so far it is working fine. Where is the risk? Thanks!
