So ... are there two version of 7509? That's interesting,
(I do have one version downloaded early today, and one downloaded rather recently. They differ in size. which should I trust? and why?)

the one currently on Sourceforge is the one without the nfs bug. It doesn't matter if you don't use nfs.

Upgrade worked without problems.

One point I've seen already in the last releases:
The header logo is not visible in Safari. If I add the CSS property "height:85px" to the header element it is displayed again :-)

The height of the header area must remain dynamic, therefore setting the header height to 86px is not the solution.
Could you please test the latest gui.css from Sourceforge? We found that Firefox randomly displays the header area in a similar way you reported. The Firefox issue was solved with the new gui.css.

I am running 12.1.0.4.7389 and keep getting the following message when trying to in-place upgrade:
Warning: move_uploaded_file(): Filename cannot be empty in /usr/local/www/system_firmware.php on line 323 Warning: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move '/var/tmp/ftmp/phpe2xEig' to '' in /usr/local/www/system_firmware.php on line 323 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /usr/local/www/system_firmware.php:323) in /usr/local/www/fbegin.inc on line 34
I think I have the latest SF release...any suggestions?

Hi, the header is displayed correctly again in Safari with this gui.css. 👍

Updated my server with this version and noticed the missing home icon.

Followed the forum instructions related to the gui.css file ...
But despite being solved in FireFox, in Chromium browser is still broken ...

Nonetheless thanks for the fast update ...

Is your system using RootOnZFS?
Which file did you use to upate your installation?

I am using the embedded version of Xigmanas and booting from a 120gb ssd ( I assume that this is using RootOnZFS). I have been running Xigmanas (nas4free) for many years and have always used the embedded version, but reading the update info, this may not be the best version for update flexibility. Thanks for any help and insights.

The following input errors were detected:
Invalid firmware file.
The file you try to flash is not for this platform (x64-full).
I'm wondering why he thinks that I'm on a full installation

Many thanks for time and effort that has gone into latest release. RootonZFS updated to 12.1.0.4.7509 from previous fresh install of 12.1.0.4.7389. Pleased with RootonZFS, and the update was very easy and quick to do. No apparent problems.

Hello, just FYI XigmaNAS RootOnZFS Platform is a kind of an Full install, just that boats ZFS/Boot Environments plus support WebGUI Firmware Upgrades, though Full on UFS may support WebGUI Firmware upgrades too, more on this HERE.

Recent XigmaNAS RootOnZFS releases now uses the file.txz distribution file for Firmware upgrades, unlike the previous .tgz, the .txz has much better compression ratio.

As expected this change requires a minimum version in order to accept the new .txz file format, however users wanting to go straight to latest release by skipping the minimum version requirement, can do it as well by visiting HERE and follow the instruction to do so.

Between, like ms already denoted, it may worth posting the output for 'cat /etc/platform'

You may want to look at the useful utilities below to enhance/ease of the RootOnZFS Platforms:
Boot Environments Manager Extension (Graphical Interface to manage boot environments with ease)
Bemanager CLI/TUI Boot Environments Utility (Same as the above but oriented for CLI admins and/or cron jobs)
Many thanks for this enhancement. Readily admit I am not expert. However, I followed your link to GitHub, installed CLI version, and successfully obtained a snapshot and backup of the present boot env. - which I can see :) Fair tribute to your work, nicely done!
Best regards.

no USB serial support

#27

Post by maxmopp »

Hi, I run XigmaNAS® 12.1.0.4 - Ingva embedded and have issues with USB serial. I can run a PalmOrb as a hd44780 with LCDProc an 11.2. On 12.1.0.4 I get a "ugen0.4: <Palm, Inc. Palm Handheld> at usbus0" but neither a dev /dev/cuaU0 as in 11.2 or a /dev/ttyU0.
As a second test a USB to serial (ftdi ) does not get a /dev/ttyUx

is ucom loaded? To test, do a 'kldload ucom'
1) XigmaNAS 12.1.0.4 amd64-embedded on a Dell T20 running in a VM on ESXi 6.7U3, 22GB out of 32GB ECC RAM, LSI 9300-8i IT mode in passthrough mode. ucom was not loaded, kldload ucom did load it: kldstat: ... 12 1 0xffffffff8ae22000 43c0 ucom.ko
But still no serial devices, disconnecting PalmOrb, resetting the Palm, no change. Test with 11.2 still works

ucom is just the core driver which needs a further driver to support your device. For the FTDI adapter, the uftdi driver needs to be loaded as well. See UFTDI man pages for further information. I don't know which driver is needed to get PalmOrb working on your PDA but at least the FTDI interface should show.
