AFP Tuning-Option?

#1

Post by trendco » 02 Aug 2013 15:38

Hi,

is it possible to tune AFP?

I ask, because yesterday i tested Nas4Free-804 vs. Freenas-9.1-RC2, both on the same Hardware/Pool:

Nas4Free: write: ~45 MB / read ~98 MB
Freenas: write: ~76 MB / read ~99 MB

Why is Freenas so much faster on writing?
NFS & SMS is just as fast.

Today i tested FreeBSD-9.2-Beta (same Hardware & Pool) an there the AFP Speed is similar Freenas -> ~70MB/Sec.

FreeBSD-9.2-Beta -> Netatalk 2.2.4
FreeNAS-9.1 -> Netatalk 2.2.4 (http://support.freenas.org/ticket/2357=)
Nas4Free -> Version ?

I am baffled...

There must be some configuration difference in the AFP service. It might be worth you comparing the files between the products
System specs: NAS4Free amd64-embedded on ASUSTeK. M5A78L-M LX PLUS - AMD Phenom(tm) II X3 720 Processor - 8GB ECC Ram, Storage: 2x ZFS mirrors with 4x Western Digital Green (WDC WD10EADS)
