What is the easiest and surest way to successful upgrade from 11.1.0.4 - Atomics (revision 5019) to the latest build?
I do run a jail that I would like very much not to lose. I run the Brigg, but could rebuild / upgrade the jail by command line if need be.
thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I run a ZFS mediapool.

thanks

I tried to dd the uncompressed live USB file and boot from it. I received the following download/file.php?mode=view&id=7723

There are two LiveUSB images, which one did you use?
1) XigmaNAS 12.0.0.4 amd64-embedded on a Dell T20 running in a VM on ESXi 6.7U2, 22GB out of 32GB ECC RAM, LSI 9300-8i IT mode in passthrough mode. Pool 1: 2x HGST 10TB, mirrored, SLOG: Samsung 850 Pro, L2ARC: Samsung 850 Pro, Pool 2: 1x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB , services: Samba AD, CIFS/SMB, ftp, ctld, rsync, syncthing, zfs snapshots.
2) XigmaNAS 12.0.0.4 amd64-embedded on a Dell T20 running in a VM on ESXi 6.7U2, 8GB out of 32GB ECC RAM, IBM M1215 crossflashed, IT mode, passthrough mode, 2x HGST 10TB , services: rsync.

The dd method to burn from an image has not worked for quite a few versions now. You have to boot a live CD or USB and create an image from that. However, it does not need to be your NAS! I use a laptop to create my boot media as I deploy them to clients.
