I can now create a new test jail on 11.3. I forgot I had changed the subnet range in my network and hadn't updated my resolver in XN. That's why thebrig couldn't get out to the internet.
I've created a new test jail on 11.3. pkg is giving me hassle with the version of OS compared to repos. I'm in the process of upgrading said test 11.3 jail to 12.1 to be like yours. Then I can check and give you an answer because I've never had to install a package not in the repos. With debian I'd be able to tell you. For freeBSD I'd like to check myself first, never done it.
Main: Xigmanas 11.2.0.4 x64-full-RootOnZFS as ESXi VM with 24GB memory.
Main Host: Supermicro X8DT3 Memory: 72GB ECC; 2 Xeon E5645 CPUs; Storage: (HBA) - LSI SAS 9211-4i with 3 SATA x 1 TB in raidZ1, 1 x 3 TB SAS drive as single stripe, 3 x 4 TB SAS drives in raidZ1.
Spare1: HP DL360 G7; 6 GB ECC RAM; 1 Xeon CPU; 5 x 500 GB disks on H210i
Backup1: HP DL380 G7; 24 GB ECC RAM; 2 Xeon E5645 CPUs; 8 x 500 GB disks on IBM M1015 flashed to LSI9211-IT

I'm looking for a perl 26 package. If I read your urls correctly, don't try it! They seem to be for the arm architecture.

I've found a perl26 but is not a binary to install with pkg. It's a port so it needs to be built. I will see how that goes.
As a plan B we might be able to simply update the script and include a block for perl 5.28.
Main: Xigmanas 11.2.0.4 x64-full-RootOnZFS as ESXi VM with 24GB memory.

Hey cookiemonster,

This guy here has just updated his auto install package and it seems to work:

https://audiodigitale.eu/?p=87#comment-179

I went through the steps and it seems to have installed lms version 8 with perl 5.32

So far I've managed to log into the gui, just trying to figure how to direct it to my nas music volume......

Thanks again!!!

Ah, great. In that case you just need to create an fstab entry in your jail with unionfs. Think of it as a shortcut from the jail to the XN filesystem.
So for instance let's say you have in your nas your music in /mnt/zpoolA/music then you create a directory inside your jail like this mkdir -p /mnt/music then back out of the jail you "link" them with unionfs.
Main: Xigmanas 11.2.0.4 x64-full-RootOnZFS as ESXi VM with 24GB memory.
Main Host: Supermicro X8DT3 Memory: 72GB ECC; 2 Xeon E5645 CPUs; Storage: (HBA) - LSI SAS 9211-4i with 3 SATA x 1 TB in raidZ1, 1 x 3 TB SAS drive as single stripe, 3 x 4 TB SAS drives in raidZ1.

I've done the
mkdir -p /mnt/music
in my jail and then logged into root@lms
Do I need to install unionfs or unionfs-fuse?
If so how?

My music folder is on /mnt/pool_2/Music on my XM

Thanks again!

Searching through unionfs related posts on here I came across this:

https://www.xigmanas.com/forums/viewtop ... nfs#p93030

in post #24
JoseMR mentions:

As for the Nullfs, it is used to map directories inside the jails in order for certain applications to access data from the host, such as web servers, medias servers etc., this can be either as read-write, or read-only depending on the jail/intended application, between Bastille Manager does supports for basic nullfs mounts/edits from the GUI.

I'm wondering if this would be easier?

I went ahead and tried this option but I'm still getting nothing showing up in LMS so using XM File Editor I had a look at the result:
/mnt/pool_2/OBI/bastille/jails/lms/fstab

Does this look right?:

/mnt/pool_2/OBI/bastille/releases/12.1-RELEASE /mnt/pool_2/OBI/bastille/jails/lms/root/.bastille nullfs ro 0 0
/mnt/pool_1/Music /mnt/pool_2/OBI/bastille/jails/lms/root/mnt/music nullfs rw 0 0

I'm still not sure if the problem is in fstab or LMS itself?

many thanks again!

So to check I went in here:

root@lms:/mnt/music # ls -li

and got this:

10 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 6 Jul 30 17:24 .AppleDB
169 -rw-rw-r-- 1 1000 wheel 14340 Oct 23 19:57 .DS_Store
98305 drwxrwxrwx 2 1000 wheel 2 Aug 5 09:22 .recycle
11 drwxrwxrwt 3 1000 wheel 4 Dec 9 2018 .TemporaryItems
1 dr-xr-xr-x+ 3 root wheel 3 Nov 30 2017 .zfs
99403 drwxrwxr-x 17 1000 wheel 20 Jun 1 14:56 24bit
14 drwxrwx--- 34 1000 wheel 38 Apr 3 2020 FLAC
15 drwxrwx--- 44 1000 wheel 45 Apr 5 2018 MP3s
196608 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 2 Oct 23 18:34 playlists

so I'm thinking fstab is good but the problem is in LMS?

Should I be making the fstab entries in the XM install rather than the jail?

do I need to do the fstab in the jail or in the main XM?

Very interesting!

I'll have a closer look at this tonight or tomorrow.

One further query though re the second part of post #29, the shares I'm trying to link to are zfs formatted so do I need to remake the jail to be the zfs enable then?

Thanks!

I don't think you need to remake the jais. Just remember you need to make the mountpoint inside the jail first.
