well those are out of stock but others have filled in the sub $30 name brand SSDs

...

Definitely great bargain for the U.S. users, unfortunately the S&H also kills the deal to my location thanks to UPS, between I have purchased similar $19~$39 range SSD's from eBay free shipping(by USPS) and currently have a Patriot Blaze 120GB SATA3 on one of my laptops with good results so far, for workstation/server I use Samsung ones.

sure but last years pricing sweet spot is next years closeouts
much the same for MOBOs drives etc.

the latest/greatest is often price prohibitive and some times problematic.

Hello, what does it mean when the install gets stuck on a blue screen right after choosing raid type? Using 12.10.4.791 on CD, the dvd drive was making a lot of weird noises after it froze!

please start instaling on a single Disk/SSD/Nve, not in a RAID. =stripe (RAID is for data disk , not for bootable media unless you are and advanced user that know what are you doing)

and enumerate steps do you use until DVD freeze. <- If still freeze, try to install from a USB bootable media instead, use this link

istallation manual: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=13650&p=84568#p84568
12.0.0.4 (revision 6766)+OBI on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 12x3TB disk in 3 vdev in RaidZ1 = 32TB Raw size only 22TB usable

Thanks. I think my dvd drive died, or a bad disc, I redid it on USB and it worked first time. I do have an odd thing happening though, I can log into the web UI, but it does not show up on my network in my list of connected devices. Any idea why that would be? Thanks again for the help.

Edit: Got it, it was set to static ip instead of DHCP.

do yo configure SAMBA/SMB and SMB shares?

Please open a new post on newbe sections and please post some screen capture so can help you.

PD: shares can no longer be automatic visible, (NT1 deprecated) you need to acces by IP and create a desktop shortcut

"Support for MBR install option for legacy but capable hardware."
If my mother-board can boot from a USB stick, will it be able to also boot from a USB sticks ZFS-Mirror (RootOnZFS 2xUSB memory sticks 30GB each)?

It comes to the moment of choosing the installation confirmation and throws it back to the installation methods selection menu
Installation fails

Hello sorry late reply, kinda busy here and most likely I'm overlooking most threads here

Yes, RootOnZFS Platform should work from any media the system can boot, i.e. USB2/3, mSATA, NVMe etc., however Full Platforms meant to be installed under small/mirrored HDD's/SSD's for best performance and reliability, but if this is a home setup, a pair of any branded USB3.0 should be ok despite being not optimal.

Hello, could you mind to share your current system setup?

P.S RootOnZFS Platform should be installed on HDD or SSD, also on direct motherboard SATA ports, or compatible HBA's with IT firmware.
