Help,XigmaNas can NOT booting

#1

Post by tianmo » 02 Aug 2018 06:28

Help, help, my xigmanas can't be started. When the name was still nas4free, it has been in normal use. A few days ago, upgrading xigmanas was all right. Later, I edited the network interface error and could not log in. I connected the monitor and wanted to re-edit the network settings on the command line. It turns out that after selecting the boot mode, the display appears "booting..." and the screen is not responding. But it seems that the system is still running, because I heard the motherboard beep and the hard disk boot sound. I tried to use the iso or img file to write the USB flash drive, and then use the USB flash drive to start the system. The result is that after the boot mode is selected, the "booting..." word appears, and then the monitor does not react. It is. What should I do? Very anxious, thank you for any suggestions.

same problem for me. I did the update from gui and it does not start at reboot. I downloaded the live usb, made the pendrive and does not start with any of the options (not even with "boot xigmanas in safe mode")

Only tested on a Dell poweredge .

I need to test on my other NAS.

PD: update works fine, fail is only on a new USBlive boot to do a fresh install.

I tested on a C2750, a C2550, a D525, legacy for the last, uefi and legacy for the first 2.
If this stops at the creation of RAM disk, a RAM test may be necessary.

if I boot in normal mode, it stays still in "Booting..." like first image by tianmo. If I boot in safe mode, it restarts, screen in attachment...

I use 4 usb pendrive (4GB-16GB), 2 version 5774 e 5762, rufus e win32diskimager, change usb socket... same result with all combinations...

I have got a Intel NUC5PPYH and i have disabled secure boot and fastboot and it always worked everything with Nas4Free...

Any idea? :?:

Same here, I´m very angry because the newest XigmaNAS OS can´t boot and, there´s no an old copy of Nas4Free to downgrade, so I can´t acces to the multimedia files and bukups because I formatted all my disks in UFS so I can´t read them in Linux, Mac or Win10. So Any idea what I can do? I´m evaluating to discard this SO and migrate to OMV.

1. i faced the same issue as you.
2. Saved my config
3. recreated new embedded 6026 flash in efi mode (using live-usb on another pc)
4. set uefi boot in bios
5. Booted up without issue then loaded config.
6. now i have latest version and have no boot issue.
sorry for my english =)

ok, I installed version 6005 on a pendrive, I booted xigmanas from another pc (because on the server it does not boot) and run the installation on another pendrive. I tried both in efi mode and in gpt mode, I put the pendrive in the server, started and is finally booted xigmanas. I tried to upgrade to 6026 and it worked for both cases.

So if on any server does not start xigmanas, it will be necessary to make the double pass with other pc / pendrive. it's not comfortable, but at the moment it's the only solution.

XigmaNAS LiveUSB still does not support UEFI boot, also is still based on the legacy MBR partitioning scheme, since XigmaNAS 11.2.x no longer support/recommend legacy hardware maybe we can build/test a newer LiveUSB with both BIOS+UEFI boot capability and drop the legacy one.

Of course if some affected users are willing to test before make the change :?:

Hi raul, HERE is the latest LiveUSB with GPT BIOS+UEFI boot support.

It will be much appreciated if Intel NUC's owners can test this LiveUSB and being able to boot in UEFI without to have to use an alternate hardware to perform the installation.

I am unable to boot and install XigmaNAS on what was a previously working platform. The boot sequence is much slower than previously seen and it hangs when the first menu is on the screen. Apart from rebooting when option 3 is selected which forces a reboot, once the 3 second countdown is complete, keystrokes are inneffective. The firmware version is 11.2.0.4 revision 6400. Reading this thread, I have tried both the GPT and MBR versions of this release, with the same result on both.
I have been running a small NAS on the platform hardware with firmware version 10.1.0.2 rev. 1761 (as NAS4free) and UFS for a few years with normal operation. Recently I have needed to change the mount point but in doing so am unable to re-map the NAS from network clients, so I decided to re-install with the latest version firmware.
details of the hardware are as follows:
Motherboard: ASRock D1800B-ITX
RAM: 2x4GB DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM
USB drive: 8GB
Disks: 2x1TB WD Red in raid 1 config.
The BIOS settings are unchanged from the working setup.

Any help will be gratefully received.
