Moving data from Raid5 array to ZFS

#1

Post by ExTruckie » 24 Oct 2018 01:22

Hello

Since the option to create raid arrays has been removed from the newest version of XimaNAS. I need to create a ZFS pool in its place.
I have rsync running and have a disk on my server with all the data that is on the array. I can access them both with FTP.
The question I have is, How do I restore the data from the backup drive back onto the ZFS pool?
Does rsync handle it or do I just drag and drop the files from one drive to the pool?

I know to make a back up of my config file. The only thing is how to change my raid array to ZFS but that is a topic for another thread in ZFS.

Thanks

I would use rsync to restore the data to a dataset.

Thanks

One other question. Is there a way to force a resync? I believe there is but just want to confirm.
