Problems with NFS read performance

#1

Post by kim.bjoern » 10 Feb 2019 20:46

Hi all, thanks to BootFromZFS, I've been experimenting with 11.2p8-6400 vs 12.0p2-6412,

Everything works great with 11.2 (NFS read/write speeds @110MB/sec). With 12.0 read performance drops to 10-15MB/sec (write speed is fine)!

I can play with Intel 'em' and Broadcom 'bge' 1Gbit NIC's.

Can this be related to some earlier reported problems related to iflib?

iperf3 also is working fine both directions:

Mac-Pro:~ kbn$ iperf3 -c xigmanas -R
Connecting to host xigmanas, port 5201
Reverse mode, remote host xigmanas is sending
[ 7] local 192.168.1.133 port 62892 connected to 192.168.1.250 port 5201
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 7] 0.00-1.00 sec 112 MBytes 939 Mbits/sec

Mac-Pro:~ kbn$ iperf3 -c xigmanas
Connecting to host xigmanas, port 5201
[ 7] local 192.168.1.133 port 62920 connected to 192.168.1.250 port 5201
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 7] 0.00-1.00 sec 113 MBytes 949 Mbits/sec

A quick test shows similar problems with AFP, and no problems with SMB. Again; all protocols works as expected in 11.2

Tests have been done with minimal configuration (SSH + NFS).

Any ideas?

Will do, what is the recommended approach to reset to default in xigmanas? Should I disable all configurable elements in rc.conf and sysctl..?

I did confirm the problem on a clean embedded 12.0 (only adding SSH & NFS services). No mix of configurations from any previous 11.2 environment.

Thanks for your help.
