Ports below 1024 in the guest OS

#1

Post by ku-gew » 11 Feb 2019 15:21

I'd like to set up a DNS server in my guest OS to be used in the local Lan.

In Vbox I set NAT network because it offers port forwarding, but from the Vbox manual I read that forwarding ports below 1024 is allowed only if Vbox is run as root.

What else should I do then in Xigmanas embedded in order to be able to run a local DNS server in a guest OS?
Maybe bridged mode? Or changing some other settings?

Thanks!

SMB, rsync

Hi!
Why you not use dnsmasq ? It work as dns forwarder and add to network names content of /etc/host
