Both embedded upgrade and brief tests (including latest Nextcloud 17.0 release) went smoothly in virtualbox test instance.
Are there any plans to fix a small bug in 12.0 series?

Anybody else having VM issues? Did clean install of XigmaNAS-x64-LiveCD-12.0.0.4.6928 and restored config from XigmaNAS-x64-LiveCD-11.2.0.4.6743 and my Windows 10 VM was having major issues. After startup I would RDP to it and within 20-30 seconds it would completely freeze and stop responding to ping. vnc would connect, but it wouldn't respond to any commands. In phpVirtualBox I told it to shutdown and that didn't respond, told it to force stop it and even that got stuck. I had to ssh into the NAS and kill the PID. Thinking it might be some issue with 12 so I tried XigmaNAS-x64-LiveCD-11.3.0.4.6928 and that had the same issue. I installed XigmaNAS-x64-LiveCD-11.2.0.4.6743 back on and restored the old config and it's back to working fine.

It might be some setting in the VM, but I didn't have time to go through testing each setting. The version is set to Windows 10 64-bit, encryption disabled, 2GB RAM, chipset is ICH9, IO APIC enabled, 3 cores, 100% execution cap, default paravirtualization interface, all other options under Acceleration are checked, 32MB video memory, audio is disabled, network is bridged adapter and 1000mt desktop, serial ports disabled, usb controller disabled, no shared folders.

Update Report from 11.3.0.4.6928:

I tried to update via WebGUI, Server rebooted but only reached BTX loader, where it hung.
I ended up installing 12.0.0.4.6928 completely new on USB Stick.

Boot mode needed to be set to UEFI to boot from USBLive.
First Install Option did seem to work, but would not boot (neither with "Dual" or "UEFI" BIOS Boot Setting).
Second install Option (for EFI) did work finally, config restore went without any issues.

With 11.2, "Dual" Boot mode was never a problem. Does FreeBSD 12 require EFI boot?
It's of course not a problem to switch the setting, but AFAIK normally an OS as such does not have a boot-mode preference.

Is there anything I did wrong or miss? Apologies for my ignorance in advance...

*There has been several changes to FreeBSD 11.3/12.0 lately, including the notorious new LUA boot loader.

UEFI is not necessarily mandatory for FreeBSD 12.x, in fact it does have multiple interpreters between Forth/Lua for for booting fallback as well, and so do XigmaNAS on later 11.3/12.0 releases.

Note that XigmaNAS RootOnZFS has few boot modes options including dual boot GPT BIOS/UEFI since early platform versions.
Also Embedded/EFI installer Option #2 automatically creates a dual boot mode between BIOS and UEFI on later releases.

So a quick looking on the Supermicro X10SRL-F, it looks like it has UEFI 2.3.1, so either Platforms in dual boot or plain UEFI should works fine with this mobo.

Thanks a lot for your quick response. Hm. What could have caused my BTX loader to hang?
He listed all the disks, but then - no response, no further boot. It didnt even react to CRTL + ALT + DEL, had to do hard (manual) reset.

Hello few users has been reporting this BTX loader miss behavior, also notoriously on the HP Microserver, unfortunately XigmaNAS team is unable to reproduce this BTX halt error thus we can't confirm if this is either a FreeBSD or XigmaNAS bug.
