samba service offline after 12.1 upgrade

#1

Post by wsmith » 09 Nov 2019 14:43

SMB/CIFS services aren't available after the 12.1 full upgrade

n the log:
/etc/rc.d/samba: WARNING: failed to start smbd
/etc/rc.d/samba: WARNING: failed to start nmbd

ssh'ing to console and running the samba command

[root@server /etc/rc.d]# samba
ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/samba/libreplace-samba4.so: version SAMBA_4.8.12 required by /usr/local/lib/samba/libldb.so.1 not found

the files in /usr/local/lib/samba are predominately timestamped Nov 6th but libldb.so.1 is timestamped Jun 7th

the Status>Services page incorrectly shows it's running (green check mark)

followup:

fixed by manually extracting the following libraries from http://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:12:amd64/latest/All/samba410-4.10.10.txz and overwriting the crusty ones

libldb-cmdline-samba4.so
libldb-tdb-err-map-samba4.so
libpyldb-util.so.1
libldb-key-value-samba4.so
libldb-tdb-int-samba4.so
libldb-mdb-int-samba4.so
libldb.so.1

Not exactly good either:

Code: Select all

kerberos_kinit_password Administrator@DOMAIN failed: Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm
ldb: unable to stat module /usr/local/lib/samba4/modules/ldb : No such file or directory
The prefixes/file locations are completely different in XigmaNAS compared to the FreeBSD package for god knows what reason.

true. you have to pull the files from the directory usr/local/lib/samba4 in the txz and put them under /usr/local/lib/samba in xigmanas

Appears to be caused by https://sourceforge.net/p/xigmanas/code/7018/. The fastest "fix" seems to be

Code: Select all

mv /usr/local/lib/samba/libldb.so.1 /usr/local/lib/samba/libldb.so.1.old
/etc/rc.d/samba restart
The obsoleted files list obviously needs some additions.
