torrent tracker and local torrent creating.

#1

Post by huhn »

i want to copy my old nas4free system to a new system and i want to use the torrent protocol to do that so i can pause reboot and CRC check when ever i like.
my problem is putting something with torrent into google doesn't give me what i'm searching for i really don't need a torrent to get an XigmaNAS iso thanks google...

so i want a torrent tracker that runs on the nas4free system and a bittorrent tool to create torrent files locally (with huge pieces size support if possible) on the nas4free system so i can create them over night they are going to be huge.
after that i want to seed it obviously in lan is all i need.
so are there packages on nas4free or xigmanas that can do that?

the system is very old UFS and runs an old nas4free (2012-2014) version i will update it if have to.

ohh this is starting to get funny.

i found out that qbittorrent has a tracker support and a headless mode with freebsd support just nice.

so i installed a full version of 12.1.04 over my very old nas4free version that was fine and then i google the default password for login (because it didn't ask me set one).
and i was able to login after that i just login into the webui and load my old config file from an very very old nas4free version.
that worked fine too but i have to say i wasn't expecting that i take it and i'm wrong too...
i can now login to the wegui with no problem but local at the system nope.
i don't know the PW of the web ui anymore (i still have it saved the browser it was HTTP none S so i didn't really care still the default in the new one so what'S the point) so i still changed it cause why not but the local password doesn't care it's clearly not that so welp.
it was root xigmanas or admin xigmanas before and i tried these.
loading a config file from an very old version isn't the smartest of all things i have done in my life.
so if you know a way to reset it i'm interested.
i guess a none encrypted setting backup and changing it in there may help to a hash from the default password/name but that's fishy at best.

cool no local shell for me well plan b.

now i'm going with plan C i guess. getting telnet ssh or whatever name these old thingys have is running.
i'm pretty sure there is an linux/freebsd command to tell him in advance to just say YES.

from shell, you can use option 3 to change password

PD: as option you can edit previosly saved config and delete the password used on it.

as a last option, you can do a new fresh install and import disk and configure services by hand ( 5 minutes).

if the shell doesn't have the same password as the local system yes i could reset the webui with it but i offline local access is the problem.
the webui is fine i changed the PW and i have no problems with it anymore.

i was expecting it to use the same password as the webui that's not the case i guess i just messed it up because the backup i uploaded doesn't have a local system password or name.
on the old system i could just go take the keyboard 7(it wasn't 3 as it is now AFAIK) and enter y enter and the webui was reset.
it's generally a pain anyway keyboard layout and stuff like this...
if someone wants to access my data and can locally get to the system the password doesn't do anything anymore the disk are not encrypted.

what so ever i have to read through some telnet ssh stuff it's been 10 years+.

edit2:
i got. i got system access with my config loaded using root with the webui login password.
so i can now use ssh with the power to do something.
i wasted my time with this: https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorr ... D-(no-gui)
gcc was needed and the so pkg install gcc to run the configure was still a waste because this version is either to new or to old or whatever:
configure:2342: gcc -V >&5
gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-V'
gcc: fatal error: no input files
compilation terminated.
configure:2353: $? = 1
configure:2342: gcc -qversion >&5
gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-qversion'; did you mean '--versio n'?
gcc: fatal error: no input files
compilation terminated.
configure:2353: $? = 1
configure:2373: checking whether the C compiler works
configure:2395: gcc conftest.c >&5
/usr/local/bin/ld: cannot find crt1.o: No such file or directory
/usr/local/bin/ld: cannot find crti.o: No such file or directory
/usr/local/bin/ld: cannot find -lc
/usr/local/bin/ld: cannot find crtn.o: No such file or directory
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
configure:2399: $? = 1
configure:2437: result: no
configure: failed program was:
| /* confdefs.h */
| #define PACKAGE_NAME "qbittorrent"
ESCOC
so i tried pkg qbittorrent-nox
worked...
tried to figure out how to use the build in tracker the web ui doesn't have the option for it so plan "i don't even care anymore" this:
https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorr ... -a-tracker
Stop qBittorrent and add the following lines to ~/.config/qBittorrent/qBittorrent.conf:
Advanced\trackerEnabled=true
Advanced\trackerPort=9000
now i play to add it as a command script found under advanced options using "qbittorrent-nox -d"
if this is a bad idea plz let me know. if you all didn't notice by now i have no clue what i'm doing.

next i tied to create a new torrent file using the webui.
guess it's time for another plan "whatever" yet again:
https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/5614

so i run pkg install mktorrent as a work a round.
The mktorrent port currently does not have a maintainer. As a result, it is
more likely to have unresolved issues, not be up-to-date, or even be removed in
the future. To volunteer to maintain this port, please create an issue at:
what could possible go wrong?

edit orginal: ok i figured it out.
the local system uses the only manual created user and it's password same for SSH.
i'm pretty sure i only created this user for samba.
but whatever i can access everything and change all password i know of.

edit1:
ok i guess i have to give it up this is just to much.
ok the user i have has not enough rights to do anything so whatever factory reset and software raid 5 has been removed fun and the documentation is outdated.
so i manual managed each disk painfully as a software raid after i was done with it i go to software raid click on RAID 0/1/5 dead no option at all ok...
so i have a look under geom and all disk are shown but no option for raid 5 that's it nothing i can do anymore...

time to load the config file and to except that i'm a prisoner on my own system or to quote sudo "With great power comes great responsibility" and with great power it means you can't do anything at all without it...

Try Deluge torrent.
I test it year ago in jail. Seems it can create torrent link for downloading.
Setup may be not obvious as it described on their site https://dev.deluge-torrent.org/wiki/Installing/FreeBSD
If you could not start it try to use advanced guideline from MikeMac. Google translate may be required.

with torrent links you mean magnet links?
magnet may not work for me but i will give it a try anyway.

qbittorrent is kinda special.
i already create a torrent file using mktorrent (except for the part that it is command line only exactly what i need) and well that result is kind sad my windows PC could connect to my qbit tracker without any problems qbit on xigmanas on the other hand could not... i even replaced the local ip with 127.0.01 and localhost but no it can't i mean it is clearly working so i'm kinda speechless

i'm not 100% getting the jail. watched some videos etc.
i mean even if i corrupt the file system somehow i just have to reinstall and apply the new setting backup?
as far as i understand them they are kinda like virtual machines for folder something like that.

resilio seems to be pay software now but seems to be an easier solution to what i'm doing here.

what i really like to know is if "qbittorrent-nox -d" as an command script preint is a proper use of this function.
else i have to learn about daemons which looked unnecessary complicated.
i have a tracker now if i have to use transmission, deluge or what ever to seed because qbit can't see it own tracker so be it.
i haven't looked into web seeds yet but if i understand them correctly a apache and i could be done.

It's free for home use, and easy to install from OBI: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=11189

PD:From OBI, you can install Bastille Manager to do some test in a jail

i got qbittorrent to see his own tracker so that's mean i just stick to mktorrent plus qbit and i'm done.
i tried install deluge but looks like it's discontinued the normal version on windows was not impression.

if i may add replacing transmission with qbittorrent in xigmanas should be considered it's so much more powerful and the webui is just on a different level.
