Compelling reason to move from Nas4free 10 to this?

#1

Post by Bobby072 »

Hi it been awhile since I have been on. Lots changed, new name new versions.

I have 5 NAS boxes running 10.3.0.3 - Pilingitam (revision 3955) since around 2012.

No issues, I set it and forget it for the most part. I use for plex, VPN from office to home backs. Works great tweaked for speed over VPN. I might just leave it as is.

Are there any Compelling reasons to change?

only security reason .

If you have 5 boxes, try to upgrade one and test widely, and confirm that is good for you.

PD: Save your actual config and try the new ZFSonRoot install, have a lot of usefull features for production enviroment, you can read about, on forums.
12.0.0.4 (revision 6766)+OBI on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 12x3TB disk in 3 vdev in RaidZ1 = 32TB Raw size only 22TB usable

You didn't mention if your boxes have a CPU supporting 64bit. Please double-check before upgrading. New XigmaNAS releases require a x64 architecture.
