"Missing Operating System" on IBM x336 Server

Hello,
we have an IBM x336 Server with nas4free 9.1.0.1 running from USB.
Now we want to update to the new version with a new usb stick.
We can boot the server with the live cd and install nas4free to the new usb stick.
But if we want to boot from the new stick the server say "missing operating system".
If we boot the new stick in an "modern" PC all is fine.
So is the x336 too old for running new versions?

If it boots the LIve version it should be able to run the embedded as well. Did you try different USB sticks and have you checked the BIOS to boot from USB?

Yes, different USB Sticks and every start manual boot from USB.
All the same result "Missing operating System."

revise your BIOS, it looks like if your BIOS try to boot from a data HD not from your USB key.
To be sure, disconnect all diskl from your NAS and use to boot only your embeded install USB key.

The system boot from USB. If the server starts i choose boot option usb and then the USB Stick.
With disks remove and stick only the same thing.
I can put the live image with physdiskwrite to the usb stick and the server will also not boot.

better to boot from liveCD ( cd reader ) and do a embeded install on a USB, and try to boot from this embeded USB created by LiveCD and NOT by physdiskwrite / unebootin, etc...
You can do this on your desktopPC, not in your NAS (you can use your desktop PC to create your USB embeded booting from CD on this PC).

also be sure the USB stick is formatted to FAT
many have only a small FAT partition

Check the Bios if there are any options set for example "protect harddisk from virus", etc. Possible this rejects to install the Bootloader.
I have had a Fujitsu/Siemens Server, it was running fine but the usb pendrive I was installing from CD as NAS4Free Embedded was not booting, whatever I have done. I uses another computer to prepare the pendrive, plugged into the Fujitsu/Siemens and the the system could boot.

Thanks for answers. Next try is
- format the stick with FAT
- create the stick on a "normal" pc
- look in Bios for any virus protection
I hope the server will boot from the new stick.
