Hi,

Sorry, my be question is stupid but i am not find solution independently

I am install NAS4Free at 5.5Tb hard drive (it's raid 10 on 12 1Tb hard drive) but it automatic create a msdos partition with only 2Tb available storage space.

What i am need doing on the system or what i am need change when reinstall system to full access to 5.5Tb storage space

You need to install n4f on a boot device not on a data disk, so use a USB key, cf or IDE disk to install n4f , and configure it to access to 5.5 tb data disk.


PD: only a suggest, better If You do not use hardware raid disk, and use soft ZFS raid disk, is more secure.

it is a much different concept than regular desktop file share

[IMHO] the preferred option for a simple N4F file server is the embedded OS
when the computer boots the OS is first loaded from the boot storage medium to the RAM
the boot storage can be in many forms
live CD with a floppy or usb flash to store the configuration
if the hardware will boot USB then a USB flash for both OS and Config.
IDE flash in PATA or SATA or a small IDE Hdd [which can be set to spin down after 5 minutes]
for the last I use very small re-purposed laptop drives as the OS is only about 200Mb and the config about 20Kb

once the OS is up and running and the NIC / IP configured, the rest is done at a web GUI from a client computer

there are many choices for DATA storage from a single UFS formatted drive to large array pools
here I recommend avoiding hardware raid if possible.
software raid or preferably ZFS raid is much more secure but has a little memory overhead.

there are lots of services to share the data

here is a word of caution
after going to some effort to secure a network storage of your data copy, don't muck it up
unless you must foul a clean instillation with a half dozen added features, LEAVE IT.
KISS [keep it safe / simple] with the OOTB features
an add in features install with out an additional data copy is a risk to your data
