No USB after NAS4Free boot

I boot Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.925 from CD.
Until the prompt
'Welcome to NAS4Free
1. Boot NAS4Free in Normal Mode
2.
'
my USB Keyboard (attached to a rear USB 2.0 port) works fine, i can type 1 or 2 to start booting or space and go to loader prompt.

After that USB is dead.

In
'Console Setup

1)
..
9)

Enter a number'
the USB Keyboard is not working any more

The same happens when I boot from img USB-Stick.
Boot starts OK, but then it stops with the message that config.xml cannot be written.

When I'm at Console Setup i can insert a USB Stick, but then message
'uhub_reattach_port: could not allocate new device' appears.
Same as witten here: http://www.bsdforen.de/threads/freebsd- ... ost-255199
Should i modify a conf file?

When I try FreeNAS 9.2 USB works.

Hardware:

Intel DH87RL Board.
UEFI Bios
USB Legacy Mode enabled (if I disable no USB is visible)

Any Suggestions?

booting from a CD let the first prompt time out and the cd will complete the boot
the USB flash in conjunction with the CD is for the config file only not the OS.
if MOBO hardware will boot from the USB port use step 9 [second prompt] to install the embedded OS on the usb flash then remove the CD
one can also install to a small Hdd, SATA or PATA connected IDE flash
assuming the above
however un likely you may have a KB compatibility issue or usb chip compatibility issue
at first it is the bios connecting the KB check for any bios settings for USB compatability
is there a round KB plug available for a conventional KB.
worst case it might be a bad OS down load in the usb driver area

Can't hit #9 because USB KB is not working, I guess there's no USB-Flash available anymore at that stage anyway...
I can access the GUI via 192.168.1.250, is there a way to trigger the install (to SATA) from there?

No PS/2 KB plug available on the DH87RL Board

Yes, You can install now.
1. Enable ssh and Permit Root Login
2. Connect over ssh and type command

Code: Select all

/etc/rc.initial
3. Do install.

I too experiencing the same issue. I'm using a MSI B85i board and none of my USB devices work when Free4NAS loads up. I am using a PS/2 keyboard and that works. I get this error message when I insert a usb device : usb_alloc_device: device init 2 failed (USB_ERR_IOERROR, ignored)

Update : Okay for some reason it works fine if I plug usb devices into the USB 3.0 ports. Go figure...lol

If you have USB2 and USB3 devices mutually please disable on bios XHCI mode and use USB2

Hello.
I've a similar problem with filius27
Unable to open configuration file /etc/hast.conf
No such file or directory
link /var/etc/hast.conf empty (no hast.conf)
My hardware:
Motherboard - IntelĀ® Desktop Board D2700DC
Memory - Samsung 2x2048 DDR3
HDD - WDred 2x3Tb
USB Flash - SanDisk 16Gb for system.

I boot Nas4free 9.2.0.1.943 from usb
Until the prompt
'Welcome to NAS4Free
1. Boot NAS4Free in Normal Mode
2.
..
9. Install/Upgrade (Enter Number)

In the next window I select any position
1. Install Embedded...
2. Install Embedded...
3. Install Full...
4. ...
and get answer:
Unable to open configuration file /etc/hast.conf
Try ...
No detected CDROM or USB

What's the problem?

When I installed and used NAS4Free-9.1.0.1.847
I didn't have any problems.

@ dimko

did you get explicit USB version?? - other than LiveUSB Version will not install from USB-Stick...! ;)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4fre ... g/download

the above LiveUSB.img Version works for me

write to USB Stick with cmdline-tool physdiskwrite ( http://m0n0.ch/wall/physdiskwrite.php ) under Win7

*warning* such tools as YUMI to write the whole .iso into Multi-Boot (for booting different .iso) on USB will not work - i have tried with no success

**/EDIT**

seems to be USB3 problem?? could it be? in german thread i found this:

Einfach in die /boot/loader.conf folgende Zeile eintragen:

Code: Select all

hw.usb.xhci.xhci_port_route=-1
...
Filius27 ;)
add the above code into /boot/loader.conf
