Why dd instead of multiboot

She understands. She doesn't comprehend.
I understand that installing NAS4Free via USB requires you to "dd" the img to a USB stick.

But WHY? Many other operating systems work just fine with a multiboot solution like YUMI (or others). Why does NAS4Free NOT work with such a solution?

I'm sure there's literature on the subject but my google-fu is failing me (sleep-debt does that >_< ) so feel free to post links below. anyway, was curious and figured somebody on here's gotta know!

nas4free is based on freebsd not linux.

yumi does not support freebsd. that is the same situation for the others.

there isnt much demand for this, so nobody has bothered to implement it.
