Hi, I have 3 nas4free boxes, all running on P4 mainboards, with ZFS. One of them got problem recently. When reboot, reporting "Can't find kernel". How come? How to get it fixed? I understand that I can re-install a nas4free on a new USB disc, and import the ZFS pool. But how to get all those iSCSI and CIFS setting back to nas4free's GUI? I am not familiar with freebsc command line, so I do need the GUI for setting.
Thanks!

You can save the configuration at System|Backup/Restore, then install N4F on a new USB stick and restore the configuration, that's it.

I am sorry that I don't have configuration backup. Can I manually get the config.xml from the old USB disc?

only if is in good condition that is not the case.
keep in mind to save config.xml next time when all works fine.
actually your better option is to do a new fresh install in a new boot device (do not use same faulting USB disk).
once you booted and have a good IP / DNS, you need to import your disk from webGUI ( Using clear config & import Disk" button.
and then import your ZFS pool from webGUI and sync your pool and WebGUI.
whit this you have your data online, but need to finish config recreating SAMBA, and other services like fuppes or ftp or SSH.
not a lot of work, but is fast to restore a previosly saved config.
