Nas4Free on apple XServe

I'm now to this forum but have been runing a coupell of Nas4Free servers for a year.
Got a old XServ that I would like to reuse as NAS server.

Need some tips on how to install Nas4Free on Apple XServe? Can boot on CD/DVD but it only indicate a noon-bootable DVD.

so it doesnt seem to work. there are some guides on using bootcamp but how you are gonna boot nas4free from that.

Found http://cobecoballes-linux.blogspot.se/2 ... serve.html and currently putting together a folder to burn into a DVD / USB memory stick.
Current challange what file/ -s are used to initiate a boot from DVD on a normal computer.

If your Apple Xserve uses EFI boot I think it is extremely unlikely that you will get Nas4Free to boot.
I have an old iMac 6,1 from late 2006 that uses 32bit EFI to boot the 64bit processor. A FreeBSD installation disc will boot thanks to rEFIt, you can do the install, but then the iMac won't boot.
The problem is with the FreeBSD kernel. As far as I can tell work is ongoing to get EFI boot running, but the Apple EFI can be difficult...
I gave up and had to use Ubuntu as the only modern distro that would boot. Fedora 14 will boot and install, Fedora 15 will not. The upgrade path from Fedora 14 to Fedora 20 is very difficult. No versions of debian would boot. Hence the use of the very specific version of Ubuntu designed to boot on Apple hardware. Ubuntu 13.04, use the server version and upgrade from there. Ubuntu no longer do a specific Apple boot version...
What is Nas4Free built on? FreeBSD.
If you do manage to get Nas4Free to work, please give us the full details because then I can have another go at FreeBSD on my iMac!
