I installed NAS4Free on a USB device. It boots fine and seems to be working. I then start configuring it. After a while once I click save on some of the dialogs the web freezes. If I try to reopen the web it does not work. I still have SSH access but not much I can do with that.
It I reboot through SSH the machine reboots but then it does not boot into NAS4Free. It does not see the USB as a bootable device.
If I shut down completely and then start up it does boot but the same thing with the web happens after 10-15 minutes.
I tried with NAS4Free-9.2.0.1 and also NAS4Free-9.1.0.1 but the same thing happened.
The USB drive is a 2GB USB stick.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
Regards.

YES, probably you use a USB3 connexion, please use USB 2.0 instead, and works finemorph wrote:Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
PD: A bit explanation: USB 3.0 drivers on BSD 9.2 are inestable
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

Re: Installed on USB - Doesn't see the conf (and USB) after a while
It's an older HP PC and I'm fairly certain that it does not support USB3. Also the USB stick itself is an old 2GB USB stick that is USB 2.0 (not USB 3).raulfg3 wrote:YES, probably you use a USB3 connexion, please use USB 2.0 instead, and works finemorph wrote:Has anyone encountered this problem? The problem has to be something else.

You say about old HP? Try to use Image nas_on_fat.img_972.tar.gz for test from https://sourceforge.net/projects/alexey ... b/9.2.0.1/

Re: Installed on USB - Doesn't see the conf (and USB) after a while
@alexey123 what is the difference between the nas_on_fat.img_972.tar.gz that you recommend and the NAS4Free-x86-LiveUSB-9.2.0.1.972.img file?
When I boot with the file you recommended I'm again presented with an option to install Nas4Free on a USB disk (the same as with NAS4Free-x86-LiveUSB-9.2.0.1.972.img). What is the difference between the two? Should I just use it as it is (boot and work from the original stick) and not install it on a second stick once I have booted?
@daoyama I still havent tried the new NAS4Free 9.3.0.2. Will test it tommorow since the PC is at a different location then the one I'm currently at.

Re: Installed on USB - Doesn't see the conf (and USB) after a while
nas_on_fat.img_972.tar.gz is standart LiveCD embed on USB, but run from fat filesystem. Some old HP and Dell don't know work from UFS.morph wrote:@alexey123 what is the difference between the nas_on_fat.img_972.tar.gz that you recommend and the NAS4Free-x86-LiveUSB-9.2.0.1.972.img file?
NAS4Free-x86-LiveUSB-9.2.0.1.972.img -run from UFS.
If you boot from this iimage success - try configure server. You will have system as LiveCD, but your config system will store on some flash - you not need install system on another flash. Also - flash is fat formated, so your windows/linux machine can read/write itWhen I boot with the file you recommended I'm again presented with an option to install Nas4Free on a USB disk (the same as with NAS4Free-x86-LiveUSB-9.2.0.1.972.img). Configure it step by step -make 2-3 changes, for example - network settings and first page with hostname and DNS -execute reboot
then try configure disks -reboot
then try -users and servers, such samba, ssh, ftp - reboot.

Re: Installed on USB - Doesn't see the conf (and USB) after a while
@alexey123 I installed using the file you suggested (nas_on_fat.img_972.tar.gz) and it seems to be fine.
Are you planning to create a new file based on the new NAS4Free 9.3.0.2?
Thank you for your time.
Regards.
