Where is the configuration file located?

I lost my configuration disk, and now I don't have access to my nas4free. It doesn't even show up on my network after booting the live usb, and it is a dummy computer (no screen or keyboard). But, I do have a configuration backup file downloaded from the nas4free web interface.

For the live USB version, can I copy the configuration file downloaded from nas4free web interface directly to the configuration disk? If so, does it need a specific name/location? Thanks!

Found it ... disk needs to be DOS formatted and called "HDD", directory needs to be called "conf" and file needs to be called "config.xml".
/HDD/conf/config.xml
See http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=do ... ivecd_mode

What the wiki and forum don't mention is that the disk needs to be put in the exact same physical USB location as it was when the backup was taken. Otherwise it doesn't work. Found the exact USB port and it now works again.

well. the easier way would have been to set up a new usb key and from the web interface restore the config.

Mh,

i had to delete the Vboxuser group due to some issues from the config.xml. I edited exactly the above named file via WinSCP and reuploaded it. Checked even the new file date on the NAS and rebootet. But, against my hopes old content was restored or still in the file.
So, is there a backup file or other playe where the config.xml ist being loaded?
